3. Hot Summer Nights

When the Texas heat reaches its peak, Austin's live music scene turns up the volume. Hot Summer Nights is a free, citywide music festival featuring more than 100 local bands performing at venues throughout the Red River Cultural District. It's one of the best ways to experience Austin's legendary music scene while discovering new artists and supporting local venues. Hot Summer Nights 2026 takes place July 16–18 at multiple venues throughout downtown Austin.

4. The Drop-In Summer Concert Series

Nothing says summer in Austin quite like an evening of free live music with skyline views. The Drop-In at the Long Center brings local and regional musicians to the H-E-B Stage every Thursday throughout the summer. Bring a blanket or lawn chair, grab dinner from a food truck, and enjoy one of Austin's favorite outdoor traditions overlooking Lady Bird Lake. The 2026 concert series runs every Thursday through August 13 at the Long Center for the Performing Arts (701 W. Riverside Drive).
